Recently, the Expert Committee of the China Machinery Industry Federation (hereinafter referred to as the "Expert Committee") convened a specialized seminar in Beijing on high-value application scenarios for artificial intelligence within the machinery industry. Chen Bin, Vice Chairman of the Expert Committee, presided over the meeting; attendees included Luo Junjie (Vice President of the Federation and Vice Chairman of the Expert Committee), Cai Weici (Special Commissioner), Li Yanxia (Chief Engineer), and She Weizhen (Chief Economist).
The conference centered on discussions and exchanges regarding high-value application scenarios where AI has already yielded tangible results across various sectors of the machinery industry; the maturity of relevant technologies and the challenges associated with their widespread adoption; typical models for empowering small and medium-sized enterprises; and pertinent policy recommendations.
The meeting concluded that the machinery industry must seize opportunities and take proactive measures to thoroughly implement the State Council’s strategic deployment for the "AI Plus" initiative. First, it is essential to adhere to a pragmatic and realistic approach; currently, the foundational basis for the industry's digital and intelligent transformation requires further consolidation, and shortcomings persist in supporting capabilities—specifically regarding high-end chips, industrial software, and sensors. Second, further research must be conducted to define the strategic objectives and technological boundaries for AI development, ensuring a balanced consideration of both social and economic benefits. Third, the "AI Plus" initiative must be integrated into industry-wide planning and the annual work priorities of various specialized associations, with a strong focus on ensuring its effective implementation.
Industry representatives—including Qu Daokui, President of the China Association for the Application of Mechatronics Technology; Cui Hesong, Director of the Beijing Institute of Electrical Engineering and Economic Research (Machinery Industry); Zhang Xijun, Secretary-General of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society; Zhao Manlin, Secretary-General of the China Hydraulics, Pneumatics & Seals Association; Yang Zhongping, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers; Wang Jinxing, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Construction Machinery Association; Zhang Guanjun, Deputy Director of the Expert Committee of the China Petroleum and Petrochemical Equipment Industry Association; Guo Miao, Director of the Department of Science and Technology at the China General Machinery Industry Association; Du Zhiqiang, Director of the Industry Development Committee at the China Machine Tool & Tool Builders' Association; and Liu Chuan, Assistant Director at the China Heavy Machinery Industry Association—delivered remarks on behalf of their respective sectors. Relevant officials from the Department of Science and Technology and the Department of Industry Development of the China Machinery Industry Federation also attended the meeting.
